CREA en Cuba, a collective industrial design exhibition to be offered a space in Havana’s Contemporary Art Hall for the first time this year.
Fruit of the work of institutions such as the Fundación Caguayo and the Centro de Artes Visuales y Diseño DEKUBA, the exhibition inaugurated at the Villena art gallery on November 21st, 2008, point for design professionals and students as well as producers and interested parties, from Cuba and abroad.
Fifteen of the 40 works submitted for the exhibition were selected by a prestigious jury made up by Stephen Bayley (London, England), an internationally renowned designer, Birgit Lohmann (Milan, Italy), industrial designer and editor in chief of Designboom, Gonzalo Córdova (Havana, Cuba), 2003 National Design Award laureate and designer of several interiors of Cuba’s Council of State offices, Pedro Contreras (Havana, Cuba), expert for the Visual Arts Centre, Luís Ramírez Jiménez (Havana, Cuba), industrial designer and vice-president of the Fundación Caguayo, Diseño DEKUBA and Miguel Garcés Noguera, industrial designer for Diseño DEKUBA.
The 15 works selected for the CREAR en Cuba exhibition are included in an official catalogue published by the Contemporary Art Hall and in the general activities programme of this important event. An exclusive catalogue and professional curators, as well as individual posters that are accompany each of the selected prototypes, are sure to guarantee the exhibition’s high visual and artistic standards.
Design web-sites such as Designboom (www.designboom.com) and DEKUBA (www.dekuba.com), boasting over 1 million monthly visitors from around the world, as well as other national and international media, will be responsible for promoting the exhibition.
